This weekend, St. Vincent de Paul at North Harbour Parish commence their Christmas Appeal, with speakers at each Mass. This Appeal, together with the Winter Appeal, is the main source of revenue that the Society utilise to respond to the needs of the poor within our community. Envelopes are attached to the Parish Bulletin and loose on the seats
The World Day of the Poor established by Pope Francis, celebrated its third anniversary a few weeks ago. Pope Francis on 18 November 2018 said “…. We Christians cannot stand with arms folded in indifference or thrown up in the air in helpless resignation. That is why it is important for all of us to live our faith in contact with those in need.” SVDP appeals give us the opportunity to stand with the poor.
Hamper cards are at the entrance foyer at the rear of the Church (we will try for a second location as well). In the event that you are able, take a card and the flat cardboard box supplied underneath the cards. The use of boxes, together with a suggested content list, is an attempt to equalize the hampers and to reduce their delivery weight. Please return the hamper with the reference number by December 15th (not the usual length of time, so hurry!). They can be left in the office or at the back of the Church. The Catenians have offered to take the hampers to the Parish Centre after Mass. Hampers will be distributed by a number of wonderful St Kieran’s parents and their children, with the members of the Manly Vale Conference on the morning of Saturday 21st.
Last year we delivered 120 hampers on behalf of the Parish, donated by the St Kieran’s faith community and Blackmore’s. Thanks for your past generosity and in anticipation of your continued support.
